Conundrum
- Inspired by a work by M.C. Escher.
- A
three-Dimensional lattice work of beams is placed inside a cube of mirrors.
Created
with Persistence of Vision, from a text file.

Icosarray
- Twelve spheres with centers placed at the
vertices of the Platonic Solid - Icosahedron.
- The
radii are equal to one half the edge length.
- The
icosarray floats above a reflective liquid pool.
Created with Persistence
of Vision from a text file.

Missing
- A study in Constructive Solid Geometry.
- A rotated row of seven negative-space spheres
are placed over a row of seven solid spheres.
- The
center sphere has disappeared.
Created with Persistence of Vision from a text
file.

Night
- A surrealistic night scene generated through
Image Mapping and Height Fields.
- A distant
planet of water and crystaline forms.
Created with Persistence of Vision,
from a text file.

Lost
World
- A
digital Elevation Model with haze, waves and trees.
Created with Vista Pro.

CCS
Logo
- A
logo created for fun for the Center for Creative Studies. Constructive Solid Geometry
was used to build the letters from torus primitives.
- Copper,
brass, bronze and chrome were used as textures.
- The
satin-like texture was actually enlarged blue agate.
Created with Ray Dream
Designer.

Corinthian
Atrium Dream
- A Corinthian Atrium floating in the sky.
- A
polished bronze fountain emmits weightless water upward to the heavens.
- A
beam of light shines down from above.
- The sky
and structure are reflected in the fountain dish.
- A
rippling pool of cool water gathers below.
Created with Ray Dream Designer.

Glossary
of Terms Used:
- Constructive
Solid Geometry (CSG)
- The creation of complex
forms through the addition and subtraction of primitive shapes. The primitive
shapes are: cube, cone, cylinder, torus and sphere. CSG is sometimes referred
to as solid modeling.
- Digital
Elevation Model (DEM)
- A
topographical model of three-dimensional coordinates.
- Height
Fields
- Pixels in a graphic
image interpreted as elevation points in the generation of terrain-like surfaces.
- Image
Mapping
- The mapping
of a two-dimensional graphic image onto a three-dimensional object.
- Platonic
Solid
- One of the five
regular polyhedra:
- Icosahedron
- Dodecahedron
- Hexahedron
- Tetrahedron
- Octahedron
- Ray
Tracing
- A rendering
method used to create computer generated photorealistic images. A three-dimensional
scene is defined using three basic elements; a camera (the observer), light sources
and three-dimensional objects. A ray Tracing program generates a graphic image
of the scene file as output. Ray tracers are capable of rendering reflection,
refraction and shadow.
- VRML
- Virtual
Reality Modeling Language.
