How do I install MIDI or MP3 ringtones on my Moto Q?

On the Motorola Q, you can install your own ringtones.

On your PC, do the following:
* Open ActiveSync on your PC
* Click the Explore button
* Double-click the device icon. (My Windows Mobile powered device)
* Open the Application Data folder
* Open the Sounds folder
* Drag the ringtone file from your desktop folder into the into the sounds folder
* Disconnect your Moto Q

Now, on your Motorola Q, do the following:
* Press Start (Left Soft Key)
* Scroll to and Select Settings
* Scroll to and Select Sounds
* Scroll to Ring tone, and Press the Navigation Key right or left to scroll to the desired ring tone.
* Press Done (Left Soft Key)

Congratulations, you've just installed a custom ringtone on your Moto Q.


How do I install ringtones on my Treo?

Email the ringtone as an attachment to your Treo. Once you have the e-mail message on the Treo simply select to save the attachment and You will be prompted to confirm the download, click yes. When the download is complete another window will ask if you want to open or save the ringtone. Choose save, change the ringtone name to whatever you wish, then click OK. You have successfully saved the ringtone to your phone.

Congratulations, you've just installed a custom ringtone on your Treo.


How do I install ringtones on my Nokia E61?

On your PC, use the Nokia PC Suite File manager to copy the .mid files to: \Nokia E61\Phone memory\Data\Sounds\Simple

On your device, to apply the ringtones to your profile settings, use Menu-> Tools -> Profiles -> General -> Options -> Personalize.

To listen to the files use Menu -> Media -> Gallery -> All Files. .


How do I email a ringtone to my device?

PALM Questions

How do I install Palm apps?

How do I print reports or transfer my ExpenseLog/MileageLog/TimeTrak/EduLog/etc. data into Excel/Works?

When you do a hotsync your Palm database is backed up to your PC. We have
a free utility (Windows only or MAC running Virtual PC) available with a tutorial that enables you to open this backup for printing/exporting to Excel/Works as a .CSV file:

Remember this is stand alone from the Palm desktop, also be sure not to
modify or save any databases you open, this can corrupt them. Only open
them for printing or exporting out from.

NOTE: This utility is primarily for ExpenseLog, MileageLog, ExpenseLog PRO, TimeTrak and EduLog.

I can't find my .PDB file to open with PDB Explorer, where is it?
On some systems, whether intentional or by mistake, the HotSync options get changed, in which case the files will not get backed up. Start by clicking on HotSync at the top of your Palm Desktop screen, then on Custom. Make sure the System item there is not set to Do Nothing, but set to Handheld overwrites Desktop. If it is, the files will not get backed up. There are other reasons they may not be backed up, but this is a commonly seen reason.

There is yet another possibility...
If you have the attributes for the PDB extension set to hide on the desktop you will simply not find the file on your PC. The backups occur, but are hidden on the system. This file attribute has to be set, but this can sometimes be done without you remembering or perhaps even being aware.

What is this ZIP file thing I got when I downloaded OnTheGo Bundle?
A zip file is a commonly used compressed format type file used to combine multiple files into a single, smaller file. There are utilities available free on the web to open these files. For more information visit www.winzip.com

You can also try the freeware JustZIPit.

What happens when I do a HotSync?
Any program files you have queued to be loaded onto your Palm will be loaded. ALSO all of your TrajectoryLabs programs databases will be backed up. If you ever lose your Palm, your data and programs will be restored onto your new Palm!

I loaded my program on my Palm where is it on my PC?
Palm applications are strictly that - Palm applications. Unless you have purchased a program that says it comes with a PC companion program it will only run on your Palm. TrajectoryLabs.com Palm databases are backed up to your PC. There are utilities available to convert these into file Excel can read for printing reports, see above question "Is there a way to access my Palm data on my PC?"

How do I enter data into my Palm?
To enter data simply tap the field you want to enter the data in, then on your Palm screen tap where you see the "abc" in the lower left hand corner (for text entry) or tap the lower right corner on the "123". This will bring up a keyboard function that will allow you to easily enter numeric or text data.

Is it possible to place the program that i just downloaded for my palm on the main screen or can it not be filed? Right now I have to show "all" to see the application.
Where it says Main in the upper right you can create or edit categories. To move programs, select the upper left where the clock is and then select categories. You can pick there where your apps are filed at.




Pocket PC Questions

How do I install Pocket PC CAB files?

I get the message I need the "eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime" to run my program.
Unfortunately, unlike Palm OS, Pocket PC apps are not always upwards compatible as new operating systems are released. Microsoft has dropped support for eMbedded Visual Basic (eVB) , but has provided a runtime module you can download which will provide support for eVB apps. You can read more about it here and get the download. I have also provided msvbppc.armv4.cab as a download.

Exterminator wont run, why not?
It may be you have uninstalled another eVB applicaion on your Pocket PC. There is a Microsoft bug that unregisters the eVB runtime on an uninstall which will disable other eVB apps. Luckily there is a fix for this: VBRegFix, download free here or free at the main site.
